Mrs. Hartnett writes,
So here we are, in the early days of February, and it is natural that some of our thoughts turn to .….hearts. (I’ll bet you thought that I was going to say Xanadu, didn’t you!) The famed German poet, novelist, playwright, and natural philosopher Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) had quite a lot to say about hearts. Goethe gained early fame with The Sorrows of Young Werther (1774), but his most famous work is the poetic drama in two parts, Faust.
What you do not feel, you will not grasp by art,
Unless it wells out of your soul
And with sheer pleasure takes control,
Compelling every listener’s heart…
Breathe on the embers and try to ignite
A fire out of piles of ashes!
But from heart to heart you will never create
If from your heart it does not come.
(from Faust I)
And so, as we approach Valentine’s Day, do your heart (and the hearts of those you love), some good by trying a few of these tips:
have a change of heart * bless your heart * get to the heart of the matter * have a heart of gold * follow your heart * speak from the bottom of your heart * have your heart in the right place * be young at heart * find a friend after your own heart * have a big heart * have a heart-to-heart * do your heart good * put your heart into it * have a light heart * take it to heart * know it by heart * follow your heart * listen to your heart * be someone’s heart of hearts * give heartfelt thanks for all of the great gifts with which our own lives have been richly blessed
In this time of hearts and flowers and candy and Valentines, may we all remember to let our love for others come from our deepest selves and be apparent in all that we are and in all that we do.

PALEONTOLOGY FIELD TRIP
There will a final information night for the Paleontology Field Trip on Thursday, Feb. 11 (4:30 for JS students, 5:00 for HS students) in the Priory Library. Parents and students who are interested in the field trip should plan on being in attendance.
This meeting will provide additional information about the trip, as well as to serve as the final headcount for those students planning on going. We currently do not have the minimum number of students needed to make this trip possible, so anyone who is interested in going should contact Mr. Bander immediately.
The trip will take place July 10-16, 2016. Students and teachers will fly out from St. Louis to Minneapolis to Billings, Montana. Once in Billings we will connect with the paleontologists and the Adventure-360 tour group that will drive us to Jordan, Montana. We will be lodging at Jordan and doing the field work in the surrounding area. Cost will be $999.00 plus airfare.
